Challenging your Logistics Provider. Finding the Value in Service.

Part 3: Are you a Partner or a Customer?

Sometimes a business can feel as though they are simply a dollar sign or a number to the companies they do business with. Focusing on the day-to-day bottom line (although broadly prudent) can lead to this dysfunctional relationship. When cultivating a new business relationship, think about yourself (whether providing the service or being a potential customer) as a partner in the future business you will be doing. Being on the service side, we look at every possible new business relationship as a partnership, as opposed to providing a service to a transactional customer. Both sides of the equation will benefit from the partner relationship since the ‘customer’ will feel less like a revenue source and more like a integral part of the service provider’s business, and the service provider will focus on maintaining and exceeding their partner’s expectations in order to retain their business. It truly is a win-win situation.
